Youth Homes Begins with YOU…Volunteers Make the YHI Difference

YHI volunteers are actively involved as leaders, serving on various Board committees; behind the scenes in administrative support and child care; and through in-kind gifts that reduce operational costs and strengthen services to our youth and family programs.

YHI Leaders (Sharing your TIME):

• Serve on the YHI Board of Directors
• Join a YHI fundraising events planning committee
• Solicit silent auction items for a YHI fundraising event
• Take a shift at a YHI table for community trade shows or foster parent recruitment events
• Advocate for YHI support as a community speaker or presenter to your faith, civic or business group(s)
• Tell your friends about YHI and refer 5 new friends to receive the YHI Spotlight newsletter

Hands-On Helpers (Sharing your TALENTS):

• Child care during professional parent trainings/YHI program events
• Administrative support (answering phones, simple filing and clerical projects)
• Fix up/paint/organize – help spruce up the YHI office
• Cater or help serve meals at YHI Come To Our Homes on March 7, 2009
• Provide marketing/development support: 
  • Write articles, news releases or copy for YHI publications
  • Take pictures at YHI events
  • Provide pro-bono media, printing, or website help
  • Research grant/foundation opportunities

Sponsors and Donors (Sharing Your TREASURES):

• “Make a Capital Investment for Kids” and sign up as a campaign sponsor
• Attend Capital for Kids Gala
• Host a table for 7 guests at YHI Courage House Awards Luncheon in the Fall
• Provide in-kind donations (food, gas cards, office supplies, gift cards, event/movie tickets)
• Create care kits for children and families
• Make a memorial/honorarium gift to YHI in recognition of someone special
• Become a holiday sponsor and provide one or more gifts for children and families
• Donate to the Michael E. Grode Scholarship Fund or the Granny’s Purse Fund
• Join the YHI Birthday Club: send a monetary donation and sign a birthday card for a YHI foster child
• Organize a YHI fundraiser with your office, company, neighbors, friends, faith or civic groups (Ask Kelly for list of ideas)

Volunteer Complimentary Lunch ‘n Learn Orientations are held on the fourth Wednesday of the following months from 11:30 AM-1:00 PM at the Capital Grille: January, March, May, July, September.
